The subfloor was rotting away and the toilet was going with it due to a bad install a long time ago. After addressing the initial need we realized John’s bathroom was falling apart.
Not everyone needs a huge and expensive luxury bathroom remodel. Most people just need a safe clean place that is easy to maintain. John is one of those kinds of dudes. We tore out the old bathroom (see the pics) and installed a new durable solution. The outcome looks great and has made John VERY happy. The original window was in bad shape so we replaced it with a new Jeld-Wen Vinyl window and trimmed it out with glossy PVC trim that lasts forever, regardless of how wet the area gets. We also fixed the rest of the subfloor, removed the old cast iron piping, and installed new ones. The floor is now an LVT product, a low labor cost material that can last a lifetime. John provided the vanity of his choice. We removed the old drywall and installed new mold and moisture-resistant wallboard.
